Art Gallery opening features the photography of John Sodrel
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church presents "Jiujiang, China: A Louisville Sister City"
by photographer John Sodrel.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1015 E. Main Street, New Albany, presents a gallery opening of the works of photographer John Sodrel on Sunday, March 19, at 2:30 pm. The opening features a reception and gallery talk by the artist. John had the opportunity to visit Jiujiang, China in 2004. A "small city" of roughly five million people, Jiujiang is like much of China in that the old ways co-exist alongside the country's move to modernize, and embrace capitalism. John's images seek to capture this dichotomy in a mostly-urban area which mirrors Louisville due to its proximity to a major river, its central location within the eastern half of the nation, and nearby cultural attractions. John will also incorporate some images from his travels in Hong Kong, Xi'an, Beijing, and Shanghai. The art exhibit will run until April 21, and will be open Tues. - Fri. from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
